We explored various inexpensive or "free" reading software/materials change the color of the text and background, voices, speed or take the sudio file version of the text and play it on a music player or computer.

Enjoy and explore how to effectively read "with" instead of "to" your emerging communicator and reader. Learn new and fun ways to adapt books, provide access and develop emergent literacy skills.

Emergent Literacy for students with Visual Impairments

This make and take workshop will focus on creating early literacy experiences for young children with visual impairments as well as for studnets with multiple disabilites at teh emergent literacy level. Each participant will create or adapt a book (object book, concept book, or storybook/bag) to use with his or her students.

This workshop will focus on ways inclusion teachers can use Kurxweill 3000 software to improve reading comprehension and writing output. Target student population Students with mild disabilities K-12

Balancing the Four-Blocks for Literacy Instruction

Develop adapted activites to accomodate for learning difficulties in accessing traditional literacy instruction. Strategies will be based on the four block literacy framework by Patricia Cunningham (Guided reading, Slef-Selected reading, Working with Words and Writing)
