• The FCAT Explorer is a free, online practice program from the Florida Department of Education. 

   

Edmark Reading 1 hour
Recommended: TMH, EMH, Gr 1-8, self contained ESE - non readers

• The Edmark Reading Program teaches beginning reading and language development to nonreaders and those who have been unsuccessful using other programs. 

• The Level 1 software version teaches 150 words chosen from the Dolch Word List for first-grade readers, as well as "-s," "-ed," and "-ing" endings, capitalization, and punctuation.
  
• Students can click on individual words or whole sentences to hear them read aloud.
  
• From the beginning, students find success with a process that teaches sight recognition of a word, introduces its meaning, provides comprehension activities, and uses the word in story context.

Adapted Books are books to which picture symbols (often paired with symbol labels)

have been added in order to help the student look for, understand and identify (through

pointing or saying) the content of the illustrated pages. Adapted books provide a pre-

reading step that helps a student understand that the picture on the storybook page is

related to the picture symbol he/she is using to communicate. After the student learns the

particular picture-symbol associations, it may be possible to fade the picture symbols and

emphasize only the printed word, located at the top of each picture symbol.
